Sunday was a day of rest for our team... we have a BIG week ahead. So after a morning Haitian church service (two hours where we didn't understand a word but we got the Spirit), we had a relaxed day with our hosts at Deep River Mission. Mike and Nancy Worthing, and Mike's sister, Beverly, have a fantastic heart for Jesus, the people of Haiti and the people that come to serve here. The vision for their mission house comes from Ezekiel 47:1-12, where the deepening river flowing from the temple of God brings abundance. I find verses 9-10 particularly pointed towards are work here: "Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live. Fishermen will stand along the shore; there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds—like the fish of the Mediterranean Sea." I pray the work of Deep River Mission and our work here leads to abundance of life, hope and joy (and perhaps even fish) among the people of Haiti.
In the week ahead, we will be in the hospital, in the fishing communities, in the water, and on the reefs. Look forward to sharing more!
Oh, and hello from our little, hairy Haitian friend...
